Being married to a musician means getting to host lots of live music sessions in your home. I don't mind one bit. Here is a random Thursday night that I decided to shoot Oliver and Caleb writing and recording scratch tracks for their new album.
I shot these images in RAW with my T3i and a 50mm f / 1.8 II lens. Still waiting on funds to purchase the editing programs I want, so just touched these up a bit in iPhoto. Not even remotely satisfied with the editing, so I'll come back and re-edit these in due time.
sorry for the lack of posts lately! i've been working on vlogs and editing, still trying to speed up the process (4 hours to edit almost 60 minutes of footage into less than 9 minutes). i'm really enjoying it though.
i'll be scheduling some posts coming up...our 1 year wedding anniversary is september 1st, so we will be busy/not on the interwebs. i'm thinking it's a good time to post a sampling of our engagement and wedding photos.
here's the latest vlog from last week's show at the high noon saloon in madison. oliver's band bird's eye was featured by raw madison's natural born artists' showcase. if you haven't heard about raw, it's a pretty neat organization that is nationwide and now also in london, i believe. i'll link the info below.
hope you all are well and enjoying the last bits of summer 2013. it's been good to me!

you guys. this is the kind of stuff i love stumbling across. if you aren't already subscribed to npr's music youtube channel, you're missing out. my favorites have to be the field recordings, but the tiny desk concerts are a close second.
yeah, i'm a nerd.
i've been digging reggae lately and love how understated the reggae vibe comes off in Wild Belle's "Love Like This." and who doesn't love a summetime ode to new-found romance. feels good. love the setting of the L.A. South Bay Customs motorcycle shop. Wild Belle are composed of Elliot and Natalie Bergman, siblings originally from Chicago.
.with gratitude.
anyone tried vlogging yet? i have a newfound respect and appreciation for my favorite youtubers. here's our first vlog. we thought it would be fun to share the music events we attend, since we go quite frequently actually. we are blessed to have our choice of many free or cheap shows most weeknights and especially on the weekends here in madison. enjoy!

love finding music like this. here is box of light, a five piece band from the united kingdom. fronted by helen anderson (melon lady), box of light began just earlier this year and already puts out material with the feel of a well-seasoned band. so fresh and so clean. find them here and here.
.with gratitude.
edit: the band deleted the track off of soundcloud that i orginally posted, so here is the next best thang.

music has always been a source of happiness and inspiration in my life. i've played piano since i was five-years-old and married a singer-songwriter who is also an audio engineer. naturally, our favorite things to do are going to see bands and discovering new music.
i'll be posting music i've been loving lately every monday.
i can't get enough of this stuff. tom cascino is the man behind it all who i first discovered through following jenn im's clothes encounters channel on youtube. as far as i know, all of his material is available for free download, so if you like, you can find broke for free on soundcloud and bandcamp. enjoy!
