ADVENTURING | THE KEWEENAW PENINSULA

While on a long weekend getaway to our cabin in Upper Michigan, we took a day trip to visit friends of ours and do some exploring on the Keweenaw. Our friends advised us to take the scenic Brockway Mountain Drive, just west of Copper Harbor. The drive runs along the ridge of Brockway Mountain on the Keweenaw Fault and climbs 720 feet above the surface of Lake Superior. We took our time driving back down the coast, eventually ending up at the Great Sand Bay by sunset. We plan to come back in autumn for the colors and in spring to see the hawk migration along the length of the peninsula as they head across Lake Superior.
